A Camping We Will GoLast weekend we went camping with our dear friends, the Nielsons. We had a wonderful time! We camped at Three Rivers Lincoln National Forest Campground. When we got there Friday morning, the campground host showed us a special site where we could camp that was really beautiful. It wasn't an official site, but it was cleared for tents and had some fire pits. We loved it, because it was quiet and away from other campers, but still close enough to the potties for the little ones. But the best part was its proximity to the beautiful creek. We had our very own rocky path down to a cool wooded area with a cold, rocky creek rolling through it. Our kids had a wonderful time playing in the creek and cooling off.

Of course, what's a camping trip without s'mores? Morgan did a great job planning some yummy dinners and a breakfast of bacon, eggs, and fire roasted potatoes. He is a great camper, and thinks of everything. One night we had foil dinners cooked on a fire that he and Ryan started with wood that Braden and Alex helped them gather. The next night he used his favorite new toy -- his camping stove/grill -- to make bratwurst.
The boys having fun in the creek. Even Liam had a great time splashing around!
Saturday morning we slathered on the sunscreen, put on hats and bandanas, and went hiking at the Three Rivers Petroglyph site. It was so interesting seeing drawings that Native Americans made over a thousand years ago.
We had a wonderful time, and look forward to seeing what kind of camping there is in Germany!

What a great trip, Melodie! The pictures are great. I think it's fun to go camping with other families, too.

When are you guys headed over to Germany?
