Dog Tired

That's what I am. Although, why do we even use that expression? I mean, every dog I know gets like 20 hours of sleep a day. And when they are awake, their time is occupied with eating, playing, licking . . . uh, you get the picture. I do recognize that there are some very hard-working canines out there -- seeing eye dogs, fire dogs, sled dogs, etc. But the majority enjoy the aforementioned lifestyle.

I don't know any dogs who haven't slept more than two hours straight in the past three years. Who pace the house with a teething baby all night, or are awakened by the cries of a thirsty toddler. I'm not complaining about my life. I wouldn't trade my babies for all the sleep in the world. No, what I want to see changed is this inaccurate expression. I move that we change it to "mom tired." Definitely more appropriate!

Sorry for the ramblings. I really am tired. Morgan is still gone, and won't be back for another couple of weeks. He hasn't had a day off in over a month, so I know he is tired too. When he gets back, maybe he can take like two weeks off, and we can take turns sleeping!

Anywho, I have been working on my Morocco Monday posts, but they aren't ready quite yet. I am still taking pictures of the house, but I want everything to look perfect. I have some pictures out being framed right now, and we are getting new awnings on the outside, and I want to show you the house at its best. I am also working on pictures for a post about the kids' school. A friend requested a post on driving in Morocco, and I am going to do that as soon as Morgan gets back, because I need to be a passenger in the car while we're out in order to get the pictures and videos to do the post justice.

Some of you have asked some great questions, and I am not ignoring them. I am going to do a question and answer post soon, so send me your queries!

And I don't want to send you away empty-handed, so here are some pictures of my Moroccan monkeys:
Just look at this boy! I can't believe how fast he is growing!
This one's for you, Aunt Tracy! Check out Lydia's team name! Her coaches always tell me what a little athlete she is. Most of the trees in our yard are palm trees, which are not good for climbing. But we do have a very young fruit tree in the corner, and Liam is just the right size to not break it by climbing its branches. Hopefully it will grow at the same rate he grows! And my sweet baby. Look at that face! He melts my heart. I almost don't even mind being awoken every hour or so during the night by this face. Almost.

Hear-Hear! "Mom Tired" is it from now on! There's another old expression we should change while we're at it... "eat like a bird"... you ever watch just how much a bird eats? If we really ate like birds we'd weigh 400lbs! ;-) Hang in there, Melodie. One day the kids will all be grown and you can sleep then... in the meantime, you're enjoying your beautiful children! Love you! Aunt Dawn

You DESERVE a good whine (too bad we don't get wine...I hear that is good too)! You have been burning the candle at both ends for a LONG time (far before the move) and I wondered how you did it. It makes me feel better you aren't some wonder woman and you are like the rest of us and need to say it like it REALLY is. The hardest time ever is when there are young infants/toddlers. It is slowly getting better for me! I can't wait to see the other updates! Hope Morgan and you can get the rest you need SOON!

Melodie-

I love your house! You end up finding the neatest places to live. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

Now it's time for me to give you my unsolicited advice: Order Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child on Amazon right now! You need more sleep--for your sake and for your kids!

This book has helped me SO much. I was getting very cranky from lack of sleep and I felt like I was going to loose my mind. Also, I didn't know it until I read the book, but my oldest was suffering from the side effects of unhealthy sleep.

If you can't order stuff from Amazon to Morocco, give me your address, and I will ship you my copy. Please read this book!

I so agree with changing the term to "Mom tired." Although I guess we say Dog tired simply because dogs do sleep so much, they always seem to be tired. :)

I love your house. What an amazing experience to be there!

Hey guys! The kids are getting so big! They are all so handsome/beautiful. Morocco sounds really cool. We are planning on taking a trip down there before we move so we'll definitely contact you when that happens. Probably October. We move middle of November to Davis Monthan in Tucson, AZ. Mike will be working at the OL-B office. It sounds like it should be a good place for us. E-mail us your contact info when you get a chance: annaconnelly@gmail.com.

Braden doesn't look like a little boy anymore! And Grayson doesn't look like a baby! How did this happen???

I also vote for "mom tired." Amen, sista.

Hope you get a beautiful, uninterupted night of sleep soon.
